Pace Caregiver

The Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) is administered by MO HealthNet (Missouri Medicaid) and Medicare to provide comprehensive health care and other services to older adults. The PACE program is available in larger service areas across the state, such as Kansas City, Springfield, and St. Louis. PACE utilizes an interdisciplinary team to provide in-home services to those who would otherwise have to reside in a nursing home or long-term care facility. Examples of care provided are recreational therapy, occupational therapy, mental health services, preventative care, home care and personal care. The team also provides transportation coordination to medical appointments and adult day care. Medications and prescription drugs can often be provided without co-pays or deductibles.

It is important to note that PACE organizations do not provide 24/7 care services. Providers are often available during the day, and family caregivers or loved ones can step in in the evening and at night. Eligibility and enrollment in PACE is predicated on the beneficiary being certified as requiring nursing home care in a nursing facility, and being eligible for Medicaid services. PACE participants receive community based services, which reduces hospitalizations and allows for better care of medical conditions.
